Hi, I'm Jonathan Edwards, LMFT-Associate

I help people understand the patterns that keep them stuck.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent years as a schoolteacher, missionary, and minister, and as a husband and father I know how complicated relationships can get. I work with couples stuck in the same argument, partners rebuilding trust after betrayal, families navigating conflict or change, and individuals who know something isn't working but can't say why. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, I offer warmth, honest guidance, and practical tools for everyday life.

FAQ

Everything you need to know before starting

How much does therapy cost, and do you take insurance?

Individual, couples, and family sessions are $155, and premarital counseling is $155 per 50-minute session using Prepare/Enrich—wait, correction: premarital is $125 per 50-minute session. Renew Relational Therapy is a private-pay, out-of-network practice, so I don’t bill insurance directly. If your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits, I can give you a superbill to submit for possible reimbursement.

Can I come to therapy on my own if my partner won’t come?

Yes. Many people start individual therapy because of what’s happening in their relationships, and we can work on your patterns, communication, and boundaries even when your partner isn’t in the room. If your partner decides to join later, we can talk about whether couples sessions make sense.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

I work with couples, families, and individuals dealing with repeated conflict, broken trust, anxiety, anger, and patterns that keep showing up no matter how hard they try. My primary approach is Emotionally Focused Therapy, which helps us look at what’s happening underneath the arguments and reactions. A free 15-minute consultation is the easiest way to find out whether we’re a good fit.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is mostly about understanding what brought you in, what you’ve already tried, and what you hope will be different. You don’t need to know what to say or have everything figured out. It’s also a chance for you to see how I work and decide whether you want to keep going.

Do you only work with couples, or do you see individuals too?

I see individuals, couples, and families. Many people find me through couples therapy, but individual therapy is a big part of my work, especially for anxiety, stress, anger, trauma, and relationship patterns you want to understand on your own. I also offer family therapy and premarital counseling for engaged couples. If you’re not sure which fits your situation, we can figure it out together during a free 15-minute consultation.
